Sneak Peak into the Natural Food Styling & Photography Class

Last Saturday, I hosted my first small group food photography and styling class here at Spare Room. We had 5 participants focused for 4 hours on food and photography, and I had such a great time answering questions and talking through shots. To practice, I whipped up a batch of rhubarb bruschetta and everyone got a chance to get hands on by creating their own plating from my stash of props and shoot tethered using my camera so I could give instant feedback. Here are some of the shots from the day!

All my currently scheduled Natural Food Styling & Photography classes are currently sold out, but there are still 2 spots open for the May 17th Low Light Food Photography class and I’ll be announcing a June date sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Lara what a wonderful learning experience. Such a pity I don’t live in your city.

You all are just what I have been looking for. Can you please include me in any updates about more workshops?
Can’t wait to get up there!

What level of photography experience do people have who attend your workshops? What lenses do you recommend for these workshops?

    Hi Martha,

It will depend on the workshop, but typically all that is required is a good working knowledge of your camera equipment (ideally including a tripod). One of my favorite lenses for food photography is the 100mm 2.8 macro, but people bring all sorts of lenses. It’s best if you aren’t still using the “kit” lens that comes with your camera.
